Apple will once again hold a sale Friday at its retail stores and online as part of the Black Friday shopping holiday.

Apple plans to hold a sale at its retail stores and online Friday in step with Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving which marks the official beginning of the holiday shopping season.

A special message noting the sale was spotted on Apple's Australian site, where it's already Tuesday, by Macrumors.

Details on which products will be discounted and by how much were not included, however that list typically leaks out in the days ahead of the sale.Last year's sale brought discounts anywhere from $41 to $61 on Apple's iPad 2, and $101 on Apple's notebook and desktop computers.

The sales are notable in that it's typically the only time of year when Apple discounts new or recently released products, short of when they're discontinued or offered as refurbished. Apple updated much of its product line this past month in conjunction with the unveiling of the iPad mini, new iMacs, a 13-inch model of its MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and a surprise fourth-generation iPad.

As in years past, the sale is only on for 24 hours, which in Australia kicks off at 2:01 a.m. local time on November 23 and runs through 1:59 a.m. the following day. Apple appears to be in the process of announcing the sale in other locations, including Europe, as the day goes on.
